Available now, Have Your Photos Mounted To 3/4″ Bamboo Panels.

We are very excited to roll out our new eco-friendly bamboo panel product. Bamboo plywood is extremely strong, beautiful and is a sustainable product. This is the same product that is being used to make high end bamboo cabinetry and furniture.  This plywood is made of fine layers of bamboo strips laying in parallel order. Three layers are cross-laminated and heat pressed together to provide stability and to prevent warping. Bamboo plywood is 3-4 times more dimensionally stable then Oak. The panels are 3-ply 3/4″ thick vertical grain bamboo and each piece is unique. To give the bamboo panels a finished look, we sand and put a clear stain on each panel once an order is placed. Note that some panels will have imperfections making them even more  unique and beautiful. If you have any questions about the bamboo or any of our other products please feel free to contact us or call us at 1-877-518-5187.

Iowa Engineering Firm Modus Displays Projects Using BumbleJax Face Mounted Plexiglass

We just finished a large printing project for Modus, an Iowa based mechanical and electrical engineering firm.  Bumblejax was asked to produce sixteen 24″ x 36″ face-mounted plexiglass prints showcasing many of Modus’s projects for the open house of their new office building.  We really enjoyed working with Chris Davis and company at Modus and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

If you are a business, artist, clown, fireman, nurse or anyone else and are looking for more then a few prints or want a custom size, call us for a quote (1-877-518-5187) or email us at support@bumblejax.com. We will get back to you lightning quick or dinner is on me!

What Is Face Mounting?

Face mounting is a process that involves applying an optically clear adhesive to the face of the print then adhering the print to acrylic, otherwise known as plexiglass.  Once the print is adhered to the acrylic, a backing material like dibond (best) or sintra is adhered to the back of the print to protect the print and provide rigidity to the art.  The backer also provides the surface to adhere the hanging and floating hardware which provides that modern, floating off the wall look.

If you’re a professional photographer or artist, this is an excellent choice for differentiating yourself from the pack.  Acrylic face mounting gives prints a very modern and vibrant look which is great for the home or showing your work in a gallery.

Here you can see a video we did a few years back showing the entire process (a  few minor changes have been made since) and no, we never put our logo on your prints.  This was just a promo piece we did!

5 Reasons Why We Like Aluminum Mounted Digital Prints.

Aluminum prints created by printing and mounting to raw aluminum.

Before I get started, let me just say that we’re not referring to the popular “metal prints” here where the ink is applied directly to the metal in a dye sublimation process.  Our aluminum prints are made by printing to professional grade photo paper and mounting the image onto 1/8″ thick raw aluminum.  Why do we do it this way?  For one,  you get a superior color gamut not to mention far less risk of fading over time.  Our inks are rated to last 100 years whereas even quality metal prints are rated to last around 50 years (yes, still a long time!).  The problem with some metal prints manufacturers is that they use cheap inks and cheap metal and we’ve heard of some of these fading in mere months.  If you’re a photographer reselling your work this could be disastrous so know what you are buying and how they are made.

Here are 5 reasons why our aluminum prints can be a great choice for your wall!

1) Aluminum is a modern and fashionable way to display photography. I’ve seen professional photographers show their work in galleries using aluminum panels.

2) Besides being one of my favorite option for displaying photographs, aluminum displayed photographs look great in any home decor.

3) These aluminum panels are recyclable and stainless although considering you’re getting quite a bit of raw aluminum which carries some value,  don’t recycle for free 🙂  We’re guessing you won’t need to consider this option since your aluminum print will look awesome for many years to come.

4) Aluminum is very durable. You will never have to worry about dinging up the corners with this material unless of course it’s a significant drop on the corner.  Please don’t do this 🙂

5) The aluminum we use is 1/8″ thick and floats 3/4″ off the wall.  This gives it a sleek and modern floating off the wall look

I don’t like to honk my own horn (ok, maybe just a little) but I think we’ve offered something rather unique here at BumbleJax. We have mastered the art of digital photo mounting. BumbleJax allows you to have your digital photo shown in a gallery ready format! Having your digital photo printed out on our high end, large format printer and then face mounted to one of our unique substrates will give you something special to hang on your wall. One of the substrates we offer is acrylic, also known as plexiglass. This is my personal favorite and is becoming a very popular format for displaying photos in galleries and museums. Choosing to have your print face mounted to acrylic will give your print a clarity and richness that just can’t be achieved with any other technique. Check out our site and let me know what you think, I would love your feedback and to answer any questions you might have.
